KODIAK FISHING

Kodiak fishing charters that target salmon and halibut are the main appeal for the majority of the guests that come to the Driftwood Wilderness Lodge.  Our Kodiak fishing lodge features protected bays and inlets that are close to the village.

Please give us a call if you’re looking to go fishing for salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. DWL is a short boat ride away from stream fishing for salmon, steelhead, and Dolly Varden. Guests also enjoy trips to the Karluk River, which is world famous for its sockeye salmon and king salmon runs during the summer months.

Please give us a call to book with our Kodiak Island fishing lodge.

KODIAK LODGING

The main lodge is located in the Village of Larsen Bay, Alaska. It is steps from the ocean and a stream called Humpy Creek, where salmon spawn and the locals fish. It has all the conveniences of home, including a washer and dryer. The lodge has four guest bedrooms, a large kitchen, two bathrooms and a formal dining room. There is great hunting right out the door.

Whitney Creek (available Fall 2024) is a newly built cabin for hunters has all the creature comforts, including WiFi, laundry, etc. It is across the bay from the village of Larsen Bay and the main lodge. Hunters can hike to their hunting location or be dropped off by DWL staff.

CAPTAIN’S CREDENTIALS

Captain Nick Blanco is a licensed boat captain and pilot. Only 35, he’s lived full time in Alaska for almost 15 years, working as a fishing guide or assistant fishing guide.  “I have now been in Larsen Bay for more than 15 seasons, and I have exclusive knowledge of where the halibut and salmon are biting,” says Captain Nick.

If you’re looking for an amazing Kodiak fishing charter, you’ve found the right company.  Kodiak salmon fishing and Kodiak halibut fishing are action-packed during the summer months.

FUN FACT: Nick has been featured on “Building Alaska” TV show and upcoming Outdoor channel “Life on the Edge.”

LARSEN BAY, ALASKA

Driftwood Wilderness Lodge is located on a secluded lagoon with breathtaking views of Uyak Bay, which is 60 miles southwest from the town of Kodiak. Travel Alaska mentioned this area for having some of the best fishing grounds in the Kodiak Archipelago.

Larsen Bay is a truly amazing place that’s surrounded by Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, a whopping 2,812 square mile preserve that engulfs most of Kodiak Island. The refuge features rugged mountains highlighted by alpine meadows, abundant wetlands, and long-lasting spruce forests. Kodiak Island wildlife viewing is endless, and we have plenty of Kodiak Brown Bears and hundreds of different species that call this island home.

On the water, our guests will spot seals, sea lions, sea otters, porpoises, puffins, and whales.
